VIDEO CONFERENCING: CREATING A “ZOOM” CLASSROOM AS A PARENT:
Zoom is a web-based video conferencing system that Northshore teachers have been using during e-learning. It turns out that you don’t need to be a teacher to DIY a Zoom meeting for kids in your child’s class or to let them meet with friends.
What you need:
Internet connectivity
At minimum a phone or computer with audio; video even better
A “host” user (ideally a parent who will start and monitor the “meeting”)
What to do:
Go to www.zoom.us (host parent only) and create a login using the “Sign Up its Free” button
Activate account
Get a “personal meeting number” (at this time, free accounts are allowed to host unlimited meetings, 40 mins each)
Either schedule a meeting via the zoom app/website or share your personal meeting number with those you want to have join
Start the meeting and let the socialization begin
